Prof. dr. Martijn W. Hesselink

Martijn Hesselink (Delft, May 25 1968) is since 1999 Professor of Private Law at the University of Amsterdam.
He studied law at the University of Amsterdam and at the Université Panthéon-Assas, Paris. In 1999 he received his doctor’s degree cum laude from the University of Utrecht.
Between 1999 and 2005 he was Director of the Amsterdam Institute for Private Law. Prof. Hesselink is a member of several international research groups including the Study Group on a European Civil Code and the Social Justice Group. Since 2001 he has been a deputy justice at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam.
